गायत्री मन्त्र ;          ओंउम भूर्भुवः  स्व;
                  तत्सवितुर्वारेन्यम भर्गो  देवस्य धीमहि
                       धियो यो न; प्रचोदयात
अर्थ  -       सत चित आनंद जगतोत्पादक दिव्य गुणयुक्त
                ईश्वर के उस ग्रहण करने वालेशुद्ध स्वरूप को हम धारण करें
                जो हमारी बुद्धियों को प्रेरित करे
  मन्त्र ;      ओं नम; शम्भवाय च, मयोभवाय च
                नम;शंकराय च, मयस्कराय च
                नम;शिवाय च, शिवतराय च 
अर्थ           उस आनंद मय,आनंद स्वरूप कल्याणकारी सुखदाता
                 मंगल स्वरूप अत्यंत आनद दाता को नमस्कार   
the gayatri mantr is th supreme mantra of vedas ,it is a powerful invocation of surya ,the sun
it is said as there is no city to equal kashi there is no invocation to equalthe gayatri.
